Did the pro-European government save Moldova from participation in the war in Ukraine?

If there was no pro-European government in the Republic of Moldova, there was an increased risk that the country would have been drawn into the war in Ukraine and would have become an unstable area. The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicu Popescu, writes Realitatea.md, citing Vocea Bessarabiei.

According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, it is enough to look at the processes that are happening in Belarus to see what pitfalls the Republic of Moldova managed to avoid.

“If the Republic of Moldova, during the past year, had been governed by pro-Russian forces, the risk that the Republic of Moldova would have been used as a territory from which to launch hostile actions against Ukraine would have been very high. If you look at the example of Belarus, which was drawn into this war, I think that if we had not had a pro-European government, there was an increased risk that the Republic of Moldova would have been drawn into this war against Ukraine and would have become an area more unstable and much less calm than it turned out to be under our government”, declared Nicu Popescu.
