The director of Goethe-Zentrum Chisinau, Corina Girla, was awarded the Medal of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by order of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
“With this order, we recognize Mrs. Girla’s special merits in the German-Moldovan cultural cooperation. Under her leadership, the Goethe-Zentrum has become not only a center of German language training for students and teachers. It has also become a place of meetings and cultural exchange between the two countries,” the embassy said in a message.
In her speech, Ambassador Webber emphasized that the center, “under the leadership of Mrs. Girla, makes a significant contribution to presenting the modern image of an open and tolerant Germany. Above all, by teaching people the German language, the center has built bridges between our countries.”
The award ceremony was held at the residence of the German Ambassador in Chisinau.
