Electoral Period Begins for Gagauzia People’s Assembly Elections

The electoral period for the elections to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia begins today, August 28. The elections are scheduled to take place on November 15, 2026.

According to the electoral calendar approved for the vote, the electoral period covers all stages required to prepare and conduct the elections.

During this period, lower-level electoral bodies and polling stations will be established, while documents submitted for the registration of candidates for the People’s Assembly will be received and reviewed.

Voter lists will also be updated, alongside voter information campaigns and training for election officials. The final stages will focus on organizing the vote and counting and validating the election results.

“According to legal provisions, the electoral period will end once the election results are confirmed and the mandates of the elected deputies to the People’s Assembly of Gagauzia are validated. The electoral campaign for the elections will begin on October 16, 2026,” the Central Electoral Commission said.

Electoral Bodies to Be Established in September

On Wednesday, August 26, the Central Electoral Commission approved the calendar for organizing and conducting the People’s Assembly elections.

Under the approved schedule, the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia is to be established by September 16, while first-level electoral councils are to be formed by September 26.

The electoral campaign will officially begin on October 16, one month before voters head to the polls.
