The Energocom company purchased 10 million cubic meters of natural gas. The announcement was made yesterday by the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, on his Facebook page.
“Today, 10 million m3 of natural gas were purchased at a price of EUR 94.95/MW (EUR 997/1000 m3). They will be stored in underground warehouses in Ukraine and will be used by the Republic of Moldova in case of limitation or interruption of natural gas supplies by Gazprom. Energocom made the first purchase of natural gas as part of the “Security of Natural Gas Supply” Project,” wrote SpĂ®nu.
Companies prequalified according to the rules of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development participated in the tender organized by Energocom for the implementation of the mentioned project.

According to SpĂ®nu, Energocom accessed the diversification tranche, worth up to 100 million euros, from the Loan Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in order to realize the “Security of Natural Gas Supply” project.
“To ensure transparency, the opening of offers took place in the presence of representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, the Public Property Agency, the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering Service, the Intelligence and Security Service, the Secretariat of the Energy Community, as well as experts from the European Union and USAID” , the minister also announces.
Within the implementation of the mentioned project, Energocom will continue to conduct tenders for the purchase of natural gas with the aim of ensuring the energy security of the Republic of Moldova.
