Energocom has purchased 26.5 million cubic meters of natural gas for the Transnistrian region, using a €20 million grant from the European Union.
The company acquired the gas between February 1 and 10, following requests from Tiraspoltransgaz Ltd and a directive from the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE).
Energocom announced today that the transactions took place on energy exchanges in Romania and Bulgaria, with an average purchase price of approximately €57 per MWh (nearly €600 per 1,000 cubic meters). Regulatory fees, other taxes, and logistics and transport costs—potentially adding up to 25% of the acquisition cost—were included in the total expense.
