The Minister of Internal Affairs of Albania, Taulant Balla, is on an official visit to the Republic of Moldova. The Moldovan Minister of Internal Affairs, Adrian Efros, signed an Agreement on Police Cooperation between Moldova and Albania with his counterpart.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI), the agreement aims to enhance collaboration in preventing, detecting, and investigating police-related crimes. Additionally, a legal framework will be established to facilitate the organization and conduct of special joint investigative activities to prevent and detect transborder crimes, which pose a threat to the security of both states and the European Union.
“I am pleased to have signed today the intergovernmental agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the Republic of Albania on police cooperation, which will significantly contribute to preventing, countering, and combating international transborder crime, such as illegal migration, human trafficking, or drug trafficking. It is a strong signal of trust and a progressive step in the development of Moldovan-Albanian police cooperation, especially at the operational level,” stated the Minister of Internal Affairs of Moldova, Adrian Efros.

Authorities from Moldova and Albania will cooperate to combat crimes related to transborder criminality, the manufacture, and trafficking of narcotics, human trafficking, sexual exploitation of children, theft, and illicit trafficking of weapons and ammunition, as well as in other areas, such as combating cybercrime. Specifically, the document will regulate the organizational and procedural aspects of information exchange between authorities in Moldova and Albania, contributing to the efficiency of the process.
