Exclusively on RLIVE TV – Gagauzia, 30 years of autonomy

RLIVE TV exclusively aired a documentary film about the history of the Gagauz people, marking 30 years of autonomy. The film highlights their traditions, cuisine, celebrations, national costume, and the intellectuals who played a key role in promoting culture within the autonomy. It also showcases everyday life.

According to available data, approximately 180,000 people worldwide speak the Gagauz language, with the majority residing in the Gagauz Autonomous Region. The term “Gagauz” and the name of the language were not widely known until the late 19th century. Russian scholar and researcher Valentin Moskhov initiated the process. In the 1890s, he conducted multiple expeditions, collected materials, and published works identifying the Gagauz people and their language.

Today, the Gagauz Autonomous Region has become a major tourist attraction. The people’s traditions, cuisine, and national celebrations draw visitors from near and far.
