Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said that the European Union will consider the applications of Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova for accession only after Albania and North Macedonia will join the big European family.
“It is very important that we treat applications for EU membership in the same way. I am concerned about the development of the situation in the countries of the Western Balkans. North Macedonia and Albania have been waiting for a very long time to join the European Union”, he said.
The Republic of Moldova applied for EU membership in March 2022 and received the status of a candidate country in June 2022.
