Five drones crossed or briefly entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova overnight on August 27, according to the Ministry of Defense.
The unauthorized flights occurred amid Russian aerial attacks on Ukraine, authorities said.
According to the ministry, the first drone crossed the state border from Ukraine near Biliaivka toward Palanca, Stefan Voda, at 3:56 a.m. It immediately left Moldovan airspace in the same direction at 3:57 a.m.
A second drone was detected at 3:59 a.m., entering Moldova from the direction of Starokazachye, Ukraine, near Caplani. It disappeared from monitoring systems at 4:10 a.m. in the vicinity of Carahasani, Stefan Voda.
The third drone crossed the border at 4:09 a.m., flying along the Palanca – Crocmaz – Olanesti – Purcari – Rascaeti route. At 4:24 a.m., the aircraft disappeared from radar near Pervomaisk, in the Transnistrian region, close to the border area.
The fourth drone crossed the state border at 4:16 a.m. near Palanca and immediately returned toward Maiaki, Ukraine.
Later, at 5:50 a.m., another drone crossed the border near the Saiti, Moldova – Lesnoe, Ukraine border crossing. At 6:02 a.m., it moved toward Lesnoe, Ukraine, leaving Moldovan airspace.
The Ministry of Defense said Moldovan authorities, together with their partners, continue to monitor the country’s airspace to ensure the safety of the population.
The ministry linked the unauthorized drone flights to the Russian aerial attacks against Ukraine carried out overnight.
