German Chancellor and Baltic presidents will visit Moldova in August

Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz will pay a working visit to the Republic of Moldova on August 21 at the invitation of President Maia Sandu.

This visit underlines the strong bilateral relations between the two countries, Germany being one of the most important partners of the Republic of Moldova in the modernization and accession of our country to the European Union. The last bilateral visit of a German Chancellor to Moldova was 12 years ago.

Also, on August 27, on the occasion of Independence Day, the Republic of Moldova will be visited by the presidents of the three Baltic countries: Alar Karis, President of Estonia; Edgars Rinkevics, President of Latvia; and Gitanas Nauseda, President of Lithuania.

“The presence of these leaders in Chisinau is the constant and solid support proof that the Baltic countries give to the Republic of Moldova in our European journey. The Baltic States, which have been members of the European Union since 2004, are a model of success in raising living standards terms through EU membership. For example, in these twenty years, real wages have tripled, and the poverty level has doubled”, reads a statement issued by the Moldovan Presidency.
