The results of this year’s parliamentary elections in Moldova will determine whether there will be continuity in the reform agenda on the Republic of Moldova’s European path. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov made this statement in Brussels, emphasizing that Moldova is among the top countries on the EU enlargement list.
According to Gherasimov, Moldova needs political will at the domestic level to maintain the support of external partners, IPN reports. She believes that if the reform agenda continues, the authorities in Chisinau can count on the continued support of European Union institutions.
“We never have certainty or any guarantee that the Republic of Moldova will join the EU in a specific year. If there is political will to continue with the same reforms and the exact country roadmap, then we can count on the openness of EU institutions and member states. However, if we hesitate at home, we cannot expect the same level of reciprocity from Brussels,” Gherasimov stated.
The Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration also addressed the dynamics of global politics. According to her, global processes could influence the Republic of Moldova’s path.
