Government of Moldova Extended Medical Assistance to Transnistrian Residents in 2023


Over a thousand individuals residing in the Transnistrian region were provided with medication and medical devices by the Government of the Republic of Moldova in 2023. Simultaneously, the Executive allocated 3,500 doses of inactivated polio vaccine received as a donation from the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI).

Throughout the year 2023, 5,575 individuals from the Transnistrian region received inpatient treatment in medical institutions contracted by the National Health Insurance Company. Within the Emergency Medicine Institute, 160 patients were hospitalized (Dubasari district – 101, Bender – 43, RîbniÈ›a district – 10, and Tiraspol – 6).

“At the request of medical staff in the Transnistrian region, the Republican AVIASAN Service conducted 15 telephone consultations for treatment coordination and 31 transfers of patients in critical condition due to severe complications,” the Executive stated in a press release.

According to a government statement, the list of family doctors in medical institutions providing primary healthcare under compulsory health insurance includes 22,988 registered individuals, citizens of the Republic of Moldova residing in the Transnistrian region.
