Evghenia Gutul will learn her sentence on August 5. Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the fate of the Governor of Gagauzia.
In a statement on August 1, Maria Zakharova claimed that authorities orchestrated the case for political reasons to eliminate Moldova’s opposition ahead of elections. She argued that the fight against Russian propaganda in Moldova rests on “fabricated motives.”
“This trial will undoubtedly shape Moldova’s fate for years to come. I hope that one day, reason will prevail in Chisinau, and the Moldovan government will return to respecting the rule of law, regardless of the current regime’s political objectives. After all, an independent and impartial judiciary is essential for a functioning state,” Zakharova said.
