According to the publication of the Institute for European Policies and Reforms, in the Republic of Moldova there are three types of certificates of authentication and qualified advanced electronic signature, which have the same legal force: (1) Mobile eID mobile signature, through the use of a special SIM card, issued by the telecom operators Orange Moldova and Moldcell, (2) USB token, issued by the Information Technologies and Cyber Security Service (STISC) and further intermediated through the Centre for Information Technologies in Finance (CTIF), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), (3) eID identity card (eCA), issued by the ASP.
At the same time, according to STISC data, at the end of 2023, the number of active public key certificates for qualified advanced electronic signature was 266 155 units, more than twice as many as in 2022 (129 384 units).
