In the last 24 hours, the values of air pollutants have not exceeded the established limits

An improvement in air quality has been recorded. In the last 24 hours, meteorological factors predominantly contributed to the dispersion of pollutants in the air, the main cause being the lack of a retention layer, the variation of air masses and the particularly moderate northwest wind, informs the Environment Agency, writes Diez.md.

“The recorded values of the pollutants (sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, ozone, carbon monoxide) monitored at the automatic traffic-type station were within the established limits, except for the concentrations of suspended particles (PM10) which exceeded the reference limits , registering on January 3, 2023 the average daily value of 66.09 µg/mᶾ (1.3 times exceedance). Starting with the first hours of January 4, 2023, the recorded values are within the limits of the admissible norm”, according to a statement issued by the Environment Agency.

According to the authorities, between January 4 and 5, the influence of atmospheric fronts, the alternation of air masses, isolated light rains and the especially moderate southwest wind will contribute to the dispersion of pollutants in the air. Exceeding the sanitary norms for short periods of time is not excluded.

The values of the equivalent of the ambient dose of gamma radiation fall within the limits of the natural radiation background, in accordance with the fundamental rules of radioprotection.
