The separatist leader from Tiraspol, Vadim Krasnoselski, accuses Chisinau of economic blockade as a result of energy blackmail. However, this can lead to socio-economic tensions, writes Bani.md.
“We see that Chisinau is intentionally creating a crisis on several fronts. First of all, it is the gas crisis. Due to the reduction in the volume of deliveries, the economy of the republic is facing extraordinary stress, which will certainly affect the state of the budget. And since October 21, a state of emergency has been declared in Transnistria. At the same time, Chisinau cynically blocks Tiraspol’s ability to negotiate directly with the Russian gas supplier,” Krasnoselski declared in an interview published on the Tiraspol administration’s website.
According to Krasnoselski, there are only problems with gas. There are also obstacles to the import of goods.
There are problems in the supply of the most important goods, including medicines and plant protection products. There are serious problems with the refusal to register our commercial entities engaged in foreign economic activity. We are disconnected from cash transactions for no good reason. Chisinau is taking advantage of the fact that since February 28 all border checkpoints between Transnistria and Ukraine have been closed, creating artificial barriers to the free movement of people and goods. Trucks stay for weeks or even months at checkpoints in Moldova due to burdensome administrative and bureaucratic procedures that violate Transnistria’s right to establish and maintain external economic relations. Difficult economic conditions are created for our companies. It is difficult to assess Chisinau’s actions other than as an attempt to deliberately destroy the Transnistrian economy and create a deep socio-economic crisis in the republic,” says the leader from Tiraspol.

He says that he sent eight letters to the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu to solve the problems faced by Transnistria, but without any response.
In October, Gazprom reduced gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova twice. In this context, Tiraspoltransgaz proposed a distribution formula for the 171 million cubic meters of gas. The volume of gas delivered to the region left of the Dniester – 119 million cubic meters, and for the rest of the territory of the Republic of Moldova – 52 million cubic meters.
At the beginning of October, Gazprom announced that it is reducing gas deliveries to the Republic of Moldova to 5.7 million cubic meters/day, respectively Chisinau sends 2.3 million cubic meters to the left bank of the Dniester, and the rest are destined for the right bank.
