Kyiv: Russian troops from Transnistria could attack Ukraine. Transnistria, denies it

The Ukrainian armed forces say that from April until the end of May, the Russian army will hold meetings with the separatists from Transnistria,  the Moldovan separatist region. At the same time, they point out that the activities of Russian troops from that region could lead to certain demonstrations.

“The involvement of Russian troops deployed in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova has intensified, in order to carry out challenges and demonstrations on the border with Ukraine. They and the Transnistrian army have been moved to carry out demonstrations in preparation for the offensive and possibly hostilities against Ukraine,” the Ukrainian army said.
Tiraspol however says it has downplayed military activity in order to maintain stability in the region in the context of the war in Ukraine. The so-called Foreign Ministry of the Transnistrian region announces that Kiev’s accusation of possible attacks on the Ukrainian border does not correspond to reality.

“The authorities from the Transnistrian region have repeatedly stated that threats to Ukraine will not come from the region. This position is principled and unchanged “, it is shown in the reaction issued.

Moreover, the Reintegration Bureau of Moldova also came forward with statements on the situation, announcing that it is closely monitoring the security situation in the region, according to realitatea.md.
