“Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and Moldova could be the next targets of Russia if Ukraine does not resist,” Zelensky warns

During his ongoing tour of the Baltic States, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky issued a stark warning today, stating that Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and the Republic of Moldova could be the next targets of the Russian Federation. Zelensky emphasized that this is already a reality if Ukraine fails to resist the current onslaught. The Ukrainian leader commenced his tour in the Baltic countries today.

Simultaneously, it was announced that Ukraine and Lithuania have reached an agreement on the joint production of anti-drone weapons, according to Ukrainian press reports.

Volodymyr Zelensky revealed that in the last days of December and the beginning of January, Russia launched over 500 missiles and drones at Ukraine, with 70% of them successfully repelled by Ukrainian defense forces. After he met with Lithuanian counterpart Gitanas Nauseda, Zelensky stressed the need for determination from Ukraine’s partners, warning that the Russian president will not halt until Ukraine is destroyed and then turn its focus to other countries.

“Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and the Republic of Moldova could be next. This is already a fact if we do not resist. Recently, we heard discussions about Finland, the independence of Uzbekistan, and so on,” declared Volodymyr Zelensky.

Zelensky underscored that this year will be decisive in many aspects for Ukraine and all partners in the free world. Decisions in favor of freedom and just peace for each nation must be made in 2024, according to a statement issued by the Ukrainian presidency. Today, it was also announced that Ukraine and Lithuania have agreed on the joint production of anti-drone weapons, as reported by the Ukrainian press. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, during today’s meeting with his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky, declared that his country will offer Ukraine a long-term support package worth 200 million euros.

Nauseda stated that the agreements signed today between representatives of the Ukrainian and Lithuanian defense industries represent another example of close military cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized the need to ensure long-term support for Ukraine from allies and partners. He further highlighted that the overall European defense industry should be strengthened, accelerated, and adequately responded to the challenging security situation.

It’s noteworthy that Zelensky’s tour began today in Lithuania, with upcoming visits scheduled for Latvia and Estonia in the coming days. The discussions during the tour are expected to cover security issues, integration into the European Union and NATO, cooperation in the field of air defense and drones, as well as the subsequent coordination of European support.
