President Maia Sandu, received the “Madeleine K. Albright” democracy award, offered by the National Institute for Democracy in the United States.
This award was given to the head of our country together with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenski, the President of Slovakia, Zuzana Čaputová, and the Prime Minister of Lithuania, Ingrida Simonyte.
The award was given to the leaders of these countries “due to their efforts in promoting and protecting democracy in their countries and in the region”.
We remind you that the head of state is making a new working visit to the USA these days, where she has scheduled meetings with American officials.
During the working visit to the USA, Maia Sandu had meetings with the administrator of the USAID Agency, Samantha Power, the president of the House of Representatives in the US Congress, Nancy Pelosi, and the general director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva.
