Maia Sandu meets Moldovan diaspora in France

President Maia Sandu concluded her visit to France, where she attended the opening of the Paris Olympic Games at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, the presidential press service reported.

On the morning of July 26, the head of state met with the Olympic team of Moldova, wishing them success and thanking them for their hard work, which enabled them to represent Moldova at the world’s greatest sporting event.

After this, President Maia Sandu traveled to Nice to meet with the Moldovan community.

“We have finalized negotiations on an agreement with France regarding the conversion of driver’s licenses. In a few months, Moldovan citizens in France will be able to exchange their Moldovan driver’s licenses, issued after 2020, for French ones,” the president announced.

She emphasized that the interests of Moldovan citizens, both at home and abroad, are a priority in her foreign policy and a key topic in her discussions with other world leaders.

“In the French South, I encountered a warm and hard-working community. Our citizens are known for their honesty and success in France, but they long for home: they want more direct and accessible flights and to return home to be closer to their parents and children,” President Sandu said.

President Maia Sandu also highlighted the achievements of her administration, including investments in villages, roads, power lines, hospitals, and education.

“Even though much work remains, Moldova is changing for the better and is drawing ever closer to the European Union. We are determined to continue this path and provide a better future for all our citizens, no matter where they are,” she added.
