The European Union intends to launch, in May, a new government support mission in the Republic of Moldova, to counter the “destabilizing activities” of Russia. The head of the European Union delegation in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, stated that such a mission also exists in other countries of the world, but currently, together with the authorities in Chisinau, they are working out its status.

“This is a civilian security mission called the “Higher Council of Prosecutors Mission” that we have in several countries. Now, we are working with the Moldovan authorities to establish exactly its status, the areas in which the Government would need additional support. This will be a mission in support of security and will deal with hybrid threats”, Mazeiks said.
On February 22, 2023, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu discussed in Brussels the possibility of conducting a civilian advisory mission in the Republic of Moldova under the auspices of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union.
