Mihai Popsoi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, stated that Moldovan authorities have not yet had “direct” contacts with the new administration in Washington, according to IPN. The Moldovan minister made the statement in an interview with the BBC.
“There have been no direct contacts yet, but we are communicating. If we refer to contacts with members of Congress, these have existed, but with government representatives, not yet.”

He reminded his visit to Washington in November-December 2024, but at that time, the new U.S. government had not officially begun its mandate.
According to Mihai Popsoi, all of Chisinau’s contacts in Washington “have always been bipartisan.”
“We have met with both the representatives of the Democratic Party, who were in power, with the opposition, with the Republicans, as is normal in democratic countries. Therefore, we have good contacts with Republican Party representatives and hope that, shortly, we will establish direct contacts with representatives of the new administration,” Popsoi said in the interview with the British television station.
