Minister of Defense’s Statement in Stockholm: “We Want to Build a Resilient and Modern Army Capable of Defending the Country”

The Republic of Moldova aims to build a modern and resilient army capable of defending the country and ensuring the safety of its citizens. Minister Anatolie Nosatii made this statement in Stockholm, Sweden, where he is on his first working visit at the invitation of his Swedish counterpart, Pål Jonson, IPN reports.

During a joint press conference, the defense minister expressed gratitude that Moldova is not alone in its commitments.

“We look forward to continuing the exchange of practices with Sweden in countering hybrid threats and disinformation, as well as in training and defense capacity development. Sweden, which joined the EU in 1995 and NATO last March, places great emphasis on defense, and its experience is valuable to us,” Anatolie Nosatii stated.

Russia’s war against Ukraine has had a powerful impact on regional and global security, the official from Chisinau added.

“The war has shown how vulnerable Moldova is and how crucial it is to strengthen our defense. We have analyzed how Sweden can help us enhance resilience and confidence in a better, peaceful, and prosperous future,” Minister Nosatii noted.

It should be mentioned that on February 4, Moldova’s Minister of Defense, Anatolie Nosatii, began his official visit to the Swedish capital, where he was received with military honors by his Swedish counterpart, Pål Jonson, and Minister of Civil Affairs, Carl-Oscar Boh.
