Moldova complies with the provisions of the new World Anti-Doping Code. They will be adapted to national legislation

The new World Anti-Doping Code will be adapted by the Republic of Moldova into the national legislation. At today’s plenary session, December 29, the Parliament adopted the draft law that provides for the prevention and combating of doping in sports.

According to the document, national legislation will regulate the prevention and combating of doping in sports at the national level by implementing anti-doping policies and regulations, encouraging the practice of a clean sport in order to protect the health of athletes and respect the integrity of sport and the principle of fair play.

Also, the aim of the project is to discourage doping by implementing strict rules and sanctions, promoting and supporting research on the phenomenon of doping, promoting state policy in the field of health protection and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The ultimate goal is to protect the fundamental right to practice a clean, doping-free, fair sport, respecting health protection and sports ethics.

We specify that the World Anti-Doping Code, developed by the World Anti-Doping Agency, entered into force on January 1, 2021 and has as its main purpose the harmonization of anti-doping policies at the international level.

The legislative initiative was voted, in the second reading, by 55 deputies.
