Moldova is Determined to Implement Reforms and Join the EU Highlights Nicu Popescu at the Community of Democracies

Nicu Popescu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova, conveyed a resolute message during the Council of Governors of the Community of Democracies: Moldova is committed to implementing reforms and aspiring to join the European Union (EU). He also emphasized the country’s progress in protecting human rights and building a more inclusive society.

In his statement, Minister Popescu reiterated that Moldova’s strategic objective is EU membership, which represents a path toward a more democratic, prosperous, and stable society. While acknowledging the challenges ahead, he underscored Moldova’s determination to implement necessary reforms and fulfill the criteria for becoming a full-fledged EU member state.

During his intervention, the Vice Prime Minister proudly highlighted Moldova’s positions in international rankings such as the World Press Freedom Index and the Gender Equality Index. He pointed out that Moldova currently ranks 28th in the world regarding press freedom and 16th in gender equality.

The minister’s remarks reflect Moldova’s unwavering commitment to democratic principles and its aspirations for European integration. By actively pursuing reforms and improving societal inclusivity, Moldova aims to align itself with the values and standards the European Union upholds.
