Moldova is set to establish diplomatic relations with the Republic of Kiribati. This is a country in Oceania with approximately 130,000 inhabitants.

The corresponding decree was signed by President Maia Sandu. The document, dated September 3, 2024, will come into effect on its publication in the Official Monitor.

Kiribati consists of over 30 islands and covers an area of approximately 811 square kilometers. The capital city is Tarawa, and the marine reserve in the Phoenix Islands, which is part of the country, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
