The state of emergency will be extended throughout the territory of the Republic of Moldova for a period of 60 days, starting on October 7, 2022. The majority of the Parliament supported the Government’s request with 53 votes.
The main reasons why the Cabinet of Ministers requested the extension of the state of emergency are the war in Ukraine, the refugee crisis, and the energy crisis. At the same time, this state of emergency will not affect the organization of new local elections in the fall of 2022, which will take place in some localities in the country.
