President Maia Sandu condemns Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s infrastructure. The President states that the aggressor state must be held accountable for each act of destruction.
The head of state condemns the attack on September 2nd in the Odesa region. “I strongly condemn Russia’s brutal attack on the port infrastructure in the Odesa region. Russia must be held accountable for every piece of infrastructure destroyed. My thoughts are with all those affected. Moldova firmly stands with Ukraine,” the head of state wrote in a Twitter post.
The attack occurred on the night of September 2nd to 3rd. The Russian army attacked the southern regions of the Odesa region. They launched 25 strike drones Shahed-136/131 into Ukrainian territory. As a result, the port infrastructure was damaged. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed 22 drones. Two people were injured.
The Russian army began bombing the south of Ukraine, including the Odesa region, in mid-July. Russia then announced its withdrawal from the grain agreement. According to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian attacks targeted the port infrastructure and grain storage facilities used in grain transactions.
