Moldova to Develop New Economic Opportunities with Swiss Support

With the support of the Swiss Government, Moldova is set to witness economic growth and improved working conditions for its citizens. In this regard, the Executive has approved the resolution project concerning the initiation of negotiations and approval of the agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry of the Republic of Moldova and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation regarding the second phase of the “Opportunities through Technologies and Innovation in Moldova” Project (OPTIM).

The key provisions of the project include:

1. Development of socially inclusive economic opportunities.
2. Enhancement of the private sector’s competitiveness in Moldova through investments in innovative businesses, services, technologies, and educational solutions.
3. Facilitation of access to high-value markets and skilled labor.
4. Support for the private sector in exploring mechanisms to provide relevant services, accessing more attractive and higher-value markets through investments in innovative businesses, services, technologies, and educational solutions.
5. Improvement of collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Switzerland will provide Moldova with $3.2 million for the project, aiming to contribute to job creation and the exploration and implementation of mechanisms stimulating the provision of essential services for the private sector. Additionally, the project facilitates policy assistance to enhance the business environment in the agro-food sector.

This initiative signifies a collaborative effort to foster economic development and create a more favorable environment for businesses in Moldova, ultimately leading to improved living standards for its citizens.
