Moldovan authorities already have a list of Russian citizens they would sanction. The clarifications were made in an interview given to Europa Libera by Nicu Popescu.
The official declined to name the entities. However, he claimed that there are 25 individuals, half of which have Russian citizenship. According to him, some legal steps are to be taken in order to be able to apply restrictions against them.
“It is predominantly about travel bans, the freezing of bank accounts or the assets of these individuals who are involved to one degree or another in the aggression against Ukraine,” said the foreign minister from Chisinau.

At the same time, Popescu mentioned that it is about people suspected of violating human rights. According to the minister, the decision has been made. Still, the formalities are taking time, and Moldova was invited to align only with a package of sanctions, and if there are other requests, our country will comply with them.
