The Republic of Moldova will host the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics from August 16 to 22. This is a programming competition in the field of computer science.
Students up to 15 years old from 26 European countries will compete during the Olympiad.
Previously, Moldova hosted the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics twice, in 2007 and 2017. The country also organized the Balkan Olympiad in Mathematics for Juniors in 2006 and 2021. Moldova held three editions of the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad in 2000, 2009, and 2019. In 2019, Moldova also hosted the International French Language Olympiad.

“The official invitation from the international EJOI (European Junior Olympiad in Informatics) committee to host this event in Chisinau represents an international recognition of the country’s results and potential. It provides an additional opportunity to demonstrate that the Republic of Moldova can act responsibly, professionally, and in alignment with European standards,” announced the Ministry of Education.
