An event aimed at setting a new world record for the largest collection of horseshoes ever presented was held at the Petru Costin Collections Gallery of the Ialoveni District Council.

The collection contains 17,000 horseshoes that were previously used.

The presentation and counting process took place on August 15, 2026, and lasted more than 13 hours without interruption. Petru Costin, assisted by his team and monitored by specialists from various fields, presented and counted each of the 17,000 horseshoes.

To verify the collection, each horseshoe was photographed and assigned an individual identification number. The evidence collected will be submitted to Guinness World Records.

Under Guinness World Records procedures, the submitted materials and evidence will be reviewed by the organization’s representatives. The assessment may take at least two weeks, after which an official decision will be issued on whether the collection meets all requirements and qualifies as a new world record.

Petru Costin already holds two Guinness World Records. In 2011, he set his first record with a collection of 3,200 horseshoes. In 2021, he broke his own record by presenting 13,855 horseshoes. Guinness World Records officially confirmed that achievement.
