Natural gas prices for household consumers in Moldova could increase by approximately 6.5 lei per cubic meter if the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) approves a tariff adjustment request submitted by state-owned company Energocom.

The company has requested an increase in the regulated tariff for households connected to low-pressure networks from 13.353 lei to 19.378 lei per cubic meter, excluding VAT. Including VAT, the price would rise from 14.42 lei to 20.93 lei per cubic meter, representing an increase of 6.51 lei or 45.1%.

Energocom said the proposed adjustment is driven by a significant increase in natural gas purchase costs. When the current tariffs were approved, the estimated average purchase price for 2026 was 404.24 euros per 1,000 cubic meters. Between January and July, the price reached 423.28 euros, while for August–December the company forecasts an increase to 623.54 euros per 1,000 cubic meters.

The company stated that during the first seven months of the year, expenses related to regulated gas supply exceeded revenues collected under the current tariffs, creating an estimated deficit of 106.8 million lei.

ANRE will review Energocom’s calculations and decide whether to approve, adjust, or reject the proposed tariffs.

The company has also requested tariff adjustments for other categories of consumers. The proposed prices include 13.811 lei per cubic meter excluding VAT for entry points into the transmission network, 14.404 lei per cubic meter for exit points, 14.799 lei per cubic meter for high-pressure distribution networks, and 15.868 lei per cubic meter for medium-pressure distribution networks.
