President Maia Sandu today conveyed a congratulatory message to the acting Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, on his appointment as NATO’s Secretary General. In her message, the head of state emphasized the importance of the partnership between Moldova and the Alliance.
“We value our enduring partnership with NATO, which supports us in building resilience as we strive for a stable, safe, and more prosperous Moldova. I extend my best wishes for success in this new role,” Maia Sandu noted.
Today, the 32 NATO member states appointed the acting Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, as the Secretary General of the Alliance.

Mark Rutte, 57, will assume his new position on October 1, 2024, succeeding Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg, who has held the role for the past ten years.
