Moldova’s Bold Step into the Global Higher Education Arena

The Republic of Moldova will adhere to the Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education, adopted in Paris. The draft law providing for this has been voted on in the first and second readings by 74 deputies.

The purpose of the Convention is to facilitate academic and professional mobility between regions and increase international cooperation in higher education by establishing a global instrument for defining standards. With the country’s accession to this Convention, students and teaching staff in the Republic of Moldova who opt for mobility programs will have more opportunities. Additionally, higher education institutions will be fully integrated into the international flow of educational services and connected to international networks for information and qualification recognition.

The Global Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education was adopted in 2019. To date, it has been ratified by 22 states, including France, Iceland, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Romania, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
