In the parliamentary session, President Igor Grosu emphasized that the Republic of Moldova, as a candidate country for EU accession and a proponent of carbon neutrality by 2050, has strict environmental obligations aimed at improving water quality, air purity, soil health, waste management, and biodiversity protection.
He highlighted the adoption of new environmental laws harmonized with EU legislation and emphasized the need for their effective implementation, ensuring tangible changes experienced by citizens in the form of clean air and water, rehabilitated soils, recycled waste, and preserved forests.

Furthermore, the Head of Parliament mentioned that the European Union is providing technical and financial assistance to support Moldova’s journey. An example of this support is the “Life” program introduced to our country by Virginijus Sinkevičius, the European Commissioner for Environment, Oceans, and Fisheries.
It is worth noting that June 5th marks World Environment Day, an annual celebration established in 1972 by the United Nations General Assembly. This day has become the largest global platform for promoting environmental protection and combating climate change.
