The separatist leader claims that not the EU but Chisinau imposed conditions for Transnistria to receive gas purchased with Brussels’ funds.
In an interview with Ria Novosti, the Tiraspol official stated: “When the European Union proposed this gas as humanitarian aid, it made no declarations and set no conditions.” At the same time, Krasnoselski claims that Dorin Recean announced on February 3 that the government would not allow the volume of gas supplied with European funds to be used to operate the industry.
“When the gas had already been delivered, on February 3, the Prime Minister of Moldova made a statement on the matter and said that the EU would continue to supply gas, considering the following requirements: first, a complete halt to gas supply to industrial enterprises; second, an increase in gas prices to almost European levels.

It was strange to hear all this and see how Moldovan politicians try to manipulate the topic of EU-supplied gas and present unrealistic demands. How can we shut down all industrial enterprises while still collecting taxes, and how can we force people to pay European prices?” said Krasnoselski.
However, the European Commission’s announcement regarding the grant offered to Moldova clearly states that the funds are intended “for the purchase of gas used for the production of electricity and heat for the Transnistrian region and electricity for the right bank.”
