Parliament will meet for a solemn session to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution

Parliament will hold a solemn session on Monday, July 29, at 11:00 a.m., to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution.

The solemn meeting will bring together current and former deputies, former presidents and ex-presidents of the Parliament, former presidents of the Constitutional Court, members of the Commission and the working group for the drafting of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, who directly participated in the elaboration of the Basic Law of the State.

Prime Minister Dorin Recean, senators from Romania, members of the Constitutional Court, the Superior Council of Magistrates, the Superior Council of Prosecutors, heads of state institutions and agencies, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Moldova, and the scientific community will attend the festive meeting. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu will moderate the event.

On Monday, at 14:00, the scientific-practical conference “The Constitution of the Republic of Moldova after 30 years and European integration” will start, moderated by the chairperson of the Commission for Law, Appointments and Immunity, Veronica Rosca, and her colleague from the Romanian Senate, Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Tsagarlash. The conference will bring together about 100 participants – deputies, senators from Romania, and representatives of the academic environment, who will present papers on research in constitutional law and aspects of European integration. The conference will publish the presented papers in its proceedings.

The Parliament is holding an exhibition to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova adoption. This exhibition features more than 150 publications selected from the National Library of the Republic of Moldova and the Parliament’s archive.

The Republic of Moldova celebrates Constitution Day annually on July 29. Parliament adopted the Basic Law on July 29, 1994, and it went into effect on August 27, 1994.
