Path to EU Accession: Moldova’s Progress and Next Steps in Negotiations

Moldova must complete the implementation of the three remaining elements of the European Commission’s recommendations to begin the negotiation process, stated the Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Vladimir Cuc, during public debates organized by the Institute for European Policies and Reforms, writes Radio Moldova.

Before the start of negotiations, a thorough analysis of the synchronization of national legislation with European legislation will be conducted, Vladimir Cuc specified.

“We are about to begin screening the legislation, which will be extremely detailed. In the first stage, we will have rounds where the European Union will explain chapter by chapter the legislative framework on each topic. We will analyze, compare with what we have managed to implement based on the Association Agreement, and what we are yet to implement. This will be done in parallel with the implementation of the three elements of the nine recommendations, which concern judicial reform, namely the appointment of all members to the Superior Council of Magistracy, the Supreme Court of Justice, prosecutors, to reach a final decision,” mentioned Vladimir Cuc.

It is worth noting that the Negotiation Plan with the Republic of Moldova could be approved at the European Council meeting in March 2024.

Recall that on December 14, the European Council approved the launch of accession negotiations for the Republic of Moldova to the European Union.
