Pensions in the Republic of Moldova increased by 10%. Maia Sandu: “Since 2020, we have promised to take care of pensioners”

Starting April 1, 2025, the government will increase pensions and other social benefits in the Republic of Moldova by 10%. The National Social Insurance House (NSIH) applies this measure to retirement pensions, disability pensions, survivor benefits, and special pensions for public servants, judges, and military personnel. The indexation covers only the portion that does not exceed 16,100 lei.

President Maia Sandu emphasized that this increase reflects the government’s commitment to supporting pensioners. Despite economic crises, the government has significantly raised the minimum pension since 2020 and doubled the average pension to 4,407 lei. “To further increase pensions, we must build a strong economy and stay on our European path,” she stated.

Following the indexation, the minimum old-age pension for a full contribution period reaches 3,055 lei. People with severe disabilities receive at least 2,291 lei, those with pronounced disabilities receive 2,138 lei, and those with moderate disabilities receive 1,527 lei. The pension increase also leads to a recalculation of social allowances for some beneficiaries.

NSIH automatically processes the indexation, eliminating the need for pensioners to submit applications. Beneficiaries receive their payments on social cards or in cash at any post office nationwide. This measure provides financial relief to hundreds of thousands of pensioners and vulnerable individuals in Moldova.
