On the eve of March 8, Maia Sandu and Emmanuel Macron exchanged awards. In Paris, the President of Moldova received the “Order of the Republic” and the “Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour”.

” In recognition of his exceptional contribution to strengthening Moldovan-French friendship and cooperation, his active support for Moldova’s accession to the European Union, and his efforts towards restoring peace on the European continent, I have today awarded His Excellency Emmanuel Macron the highest state honour, the ‘Order of the Republic’.”

On 4 March, the decree granting the high distinction to the French president was signed. This was a day before Maia Sandu began a series of trips around the European Union.

The leader in Paris awarded Maia Sandu the highest distinction of the French state, the “Grand Cross “of the Legion of Honour.
