Preparations for the Romanian Film Days in Chisinau!

Between September 22-25, residents and guests of the capital have the opportunity to watch new Romanian films, awarded at Cannes, Venice or San Sebastian, absolutely free of charge, during the Romanian Film Days in Chisinau. According to the organizers of the event, this edition of the ZFR will be a special one: all the authors are either debutants or on their second or third screening.

For the first time, ZFR Chisinau will take place in two cinemas – Cineplex Loteanu and Cinema Odeon. For technical reasons, only retro films will be played at the Odeon cinema.

“This event cost quite a lot. It would be a shame if the world didn’t come. First of all, we insisted on free entry because we want everyone to have access. Secondly, the event has the purpose of culturalization”, mentioned the ZFR organizer, Dumitru Grosei.

Also, 10 special guests and several film critics will be present at the event, including Magda Mihăilescu and Ionuț Mareș.

During the entire period of the ZFR, the spectators will have the opportunity to talk with the great theater and film actor, Dorel ViÈ™an. The event will be opened with one of his most famous films – “The Snail Senator”, directed by Mircea Daniliuc.

In the retro section, the creation of Malvina UrÈ™ianu will be presented – a director from the 70s, “courageous both in terms of content and style”. Two films directed by UrÈ™ianu will be released – “ÃŽtoarcerea lui vodă LăpuÈ™neanu”, based on the short story by C. Negruzzi, and “Transient loves”.

This year’s ZFR edition also includes films for children. Thus, on Saturday, September 24, the film “Guardians of the Delta” will be screened at Cineplex Leotean. The educational film tells the adventure of some children, who went to clean the delta of garbage and caught some poachers.

For the second consecutive year, the Romanian Film Days will host the “Active Archive” – a program dedicated to students. The “active archive” brings back to cinema screens films made by students from the 60s, 70s and 80s.

On September 30, the marathon of Romanian films will arrive in the north of the country, in Bălți. During the month of October, ZFR will reach four other cities in the Republic of Moldova – Soroca, Nisporeni, Călăraşi and Cahul, where some of the films from the Chisinau selection will be shown. The date and program for each of the five cities will be announced at the end of the edition in the capital.
