Romania and the Republic of Moldova will strengthen their cooperation to prevent security threats, including those posed by drones. Romanian President Nicusor Dan said the two countries need to work together to respond to such risks.
The Romanian president noted that there is a difference in the scale of the threats facing Romania and Moldova, but said closer cooperation between the two countries could help prevent potential acts of aggression.
“We discussed the threats that our countries, Romania and the Republic of Moldova, are facing, including the drones mentioned by the president, and how we can cooperate to prevent this type of aggression,” Nicusor Dan said.
Support for Moldova’s European Integration
The Romanian president also spoke about the European path of both countries and reaffirmed Bucharest’s support for Moldova’s integration into the European Union.
“The Republic of Moldova is an example for all European countries that are in the process of accession,” Nicusor Dan said.
According to the Romanian president, cooperation between Romania and Moldova will continue at all administrative levels. Nicusor Dan expressed confidence that the two countries can help ensure the stability and prosperity their citizens seek.
The statements were made during a joint press conference in Chisinau by Moldovan President Maia Sandu, Romanian President Nicusor Dan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of Moldova’s Independence Day.
