Scholarships for Moldovan students who study in Romania will be increased

The Plenary Session of the Romanian Chamber of Deputies adopted, on Wednesday, May 5, a draft law establishing that Romanians from abroad studying in state faculties in the country can receive scholarships under the same conditions as those granted to students with Romanian citizenship and residence in Romania.

The purpose of the draft law is to supplement the legislation for granting scholarships to Romanians everywhere, under the same conditions as for Romanian students with citizenship and residence in Romania, throughout the calendar year, including summer holidays.

The Romanian state may grant, annually, scholarships for foreign citizens who wish to study in higher education institutions in Romania, as follows: based on bilateral agreements, based on the unilateral offer of the Romanian state, at the proposal of other ministries by decision of the Government ”, the project states.

According to the document, the number of scholarships provided in this project is approved annually by a Government decision on schooling figures, and the schooling conditions of Romanians everywhere and of foreign citizens, including funding conditions.

These provisions are to enter into force starting with the academic year 2023 – 2024.
