This week is very significant for the Republic of Moldova. The European Commission will present the Enlargement Package for 2023, in which it will assess whether the Republic of Moldova is ready to begin accession negotiations. An announcement to this effect was made by Romanian MEP Siegfried Mureșan, writes Jurnal TV.
“We, the European Parliament, are united in supporting the start of accession negotiations by the end of the year. Moldova is ready, and Europe is ready,” mentioned the MEP.
It is worth noting that the European Parliament plenary approved a resolution with a majority of votes, calling on the European Council and the European Commission to initiate accession negotiations between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union by the end of this year.
According to the resolution, the Government of the Republic of Moldova has demonstrated its determination and capacity to meet the European Commission’s requirements for commencing accession negotiations, adding that the Republic of Moldova’s accession to the EU would represent a geostrategic investment in a united and strong Europe.
