Six bridges and a customs point – until 2024! Ambassador Victor Chirilă: Romania is a strategic partner for us

Six bridges over the Prut and a customs point at Bumbata-Leova will be inaugurated by next year. The ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest revealed in detail about this. “Romania is a strategic partner for the Republic of Moldova and this was also seen very well during the Covid crisis, and in this difficult period marked by the illegitimate war caused by Russia against Ukraine”, said Victor Chirilă, at “Puterea Știrilor” from PS News Romania, edition of Thursday, March 1st.

According to the diplomat, “thanks to Romania, we managed to deal with extremely difficult crises, such as the refugee crisis, the energy crisis this autumn, the economic crisis, by opening, and facilitating trade from the Republic of Moldova to Romania”.

In this vein, he assured that this year and next year, six bridges, newly built or modernized, will be inaugurated, as well as a new customs point between the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

“Projects have been started to modernize the infrastructure that connects us, especially bridges, and roads. This year, three bridges will be repaired or rebuilt, already the memorandums are to be signed in the next period. For three other bridges, all the documentation has been sent to initiate the feasibility studies so that, in a very short period, they will also be modernized. So, in total, this year and next year, six bridges are to be built or modernized”, announced Victor Chirilă.

The diplomat also drew attention to the fact that last year these plans materialized, and this year they are already being implemented.

“In May, by June at the latest, the Bumbăta-Leova bridge will be put into operation, in addition to the bridge, a new customs point at Bumbăta-Leova will also be put into operation, and we were assured that by the summer this bridge will be functioning, including the customs and border crossing point”, pointed out the ambassador of the Republic of Moldova in Bucharest, Victor Chirilă.
