Minister of Justice, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru, had a meeting with the Ambassador of Spain to the Republic of Moldova based in Bucharest, H.E. José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano, during which the prospects for deepening bilateral cooperation in the field of justice were discussed. In the discussions, Chisinau’s interest in harnessing Moldovan-Spanish collaboration through periodic consultations and the exchange of best practices between experts from both countries was confirmed.
In this context, Veronica Mihailov-Moraru emphasized the imperative for the Ministry of Justice to implement, at the sectoral level, the European Commission’s conditions that are directly related to justice and anti-corruption policies. She also mentioned the possibility of drawing on Spain’s experience in carrying out democratic reforms and European integration, including the adaptation of national legislation to European norms and standards and the implementation of the EU acquis.

The parties also discussed the need to initiate negotiations for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with a similar institution in Spain.
In turn, Ambassador José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano confirmed his country’s strong support for fulfilling the commitments arising from the European integration agenda of the Republic of Moldova and the willingness of Spanish authorities to share their experience regarding the legislative process and the practical application of integrity mechanisms.
