Alexandr Stoianoglo, the PSRM candidate who lost in the second round of the presidential elections, delivered a message to Moldovan citizens on Wednesday evening, November 6. He expressed gratitude for the votes received and seemed determined to continue his political career. At the same time, his rhetoric resembles that of Russia.
“Dear people of Moldova, the results show that we have lost, even though here, in Moldova, we have won. The majority of you gave me your trust, and I am incredibly grateful to every one of you. It is a moral victory that, from all corners of the country, clearly showed us: that Moldova wants something different – and it wants it now. It wants justice, unity, and respect for people. This campaign exposed the limits, political affiliation, and the capture of key state structures, including the press and civil society. What happened leaves no room for doubt: they not only abandoned their duty to protect the public interest and human rights, but also demonstrated their willingness to manipulate, incite hysteria, and exert pressure in the interests of a regime determined to maintain power at any cost. It is humiliating to see how those who beg for votes use falsehoods, hysteria, and propaganda to hide the truth and confuse society by creating an artificial state of confusion, tension, and doubt. We have seen how weak and forced the government’s triumph is – one that does not know how to lose or win with dignity. Because when you build your triumph on mud, fear, hatred, and censorship, defeat is inevitable. It is only a matter of time. Manipulation, the language of hate, and division cannot be long-term foundations.

Dear friends and supporters, this is not a final defeat, it is just a lost battle. I thank you from the heart for every vote, every trusting look, and every act of solidarity. I deeply thank my campaign team and my colleagues from the Socialist Party for the support and trust they invested in promoting my candidacy. But we do not stop here. Let us face it, we need a broader consolidation of society to build a modern and just Moldova. It is time to accelerate, with dignity, even when others win at any cost. Our fight for a free, stable, and prosperous Moldova has only just begun. We move forward with our heads held high, with the same determination, and with you by our side. This is just the beginning of a new journey,” said Alexandr Stoianoglo.
In contrast, Maia Sandu’s message after being re-elected as President of the Republic of Moldova was one of unity. “We are all, with our strengths and weaknesses, with our differences, the same people – ChiÈ™inău, OcniÈ›a, Nisporeni, UTA Găgăuzia, the diaspora, the young, the elderly, those who voted, and those who didn’t manage to vote,” said the President.
