Moldova’s 330 kV Balti-Dnestrovsk high-voltage transmission line suffered severe damage following heavy rain and strong winds on the afternoon of Thursday, August 6. According to preliminary assessments, around 10 high-voltage pylons were damaged or knocked down in an area approximately 15 kilometers from the city of Balti. Authorities estimate that restoring the transmission line could take more than seven days.
Moldelectrica teams are already on site inspecting the affected sections to determine the full extent of the damage and identify the technical solutions required for repairs.
According to the authorities, if the work is carried out solely with Moldelectrica’s own resources, restoring the infrastructure is expected to take more than a week. To shorten the repair timeline, officials are evaluating all available options, including hiring specialized companies and immediately checking the availability of the necessary construction materials.
The Ministry of Energy said its top priority is to restore the damaged infrastructure as quickly and safely as possible and pledged to keep the public informed about the progress of the repair works.
