The central banks of Chisinau and Bucharest strengthen their ties with each other

The central banks of Chisinau and Bucharest strengthened their relationship in the process of Moldova’s accession to the European Union. During a working visit to Bucharest, the governors of the two banks, Anca Dragu and Mugur Isarescu, expressed their determination to strengthen bilateral cooperation and carry out more joint projects to achieve the reforms needed to continue Moldova’s European path.

The management of the National Bank Romanian (NBR) reiterated its openness and readiness to assist the National Bank of the Republic of Moldova (NBM) in various areas by sharing experience and providing technical assistance to help align the financial regulatory and supervisory framework with EU standards.

During the visit, new perspectives for cooperation on several dimensions were discussed, such as the development of a framework for cooperation and exchange of information between the National Bank of Moldova (NBM) and the National Bank Romanian (NBR) in the field of bank resolution, international accounts, fundamental and applied research, improvement of the regulatory framework.

The visit occurred on 25-26 January.
